Ernie the Not So Starving Artist

We were finally back in Kirkland after a lot of adventuring.

Ernie has had light oatmeal mixed with breastmilk once or twice but today he had his first taste of big boy food. Baby led weaning is the current in-vogue method of transitioning babies to solid foods. You don't do the whole puree baby goop in a jar thing that was happening when I was young. Now it's all about giving them more adult food and letting them gnaw on it, more to teach them how to chew and swallow but also about textures and so forth. It's also nice because he gets to eat with us and try the same stuff we are eating. So we can model how to chew and other eating skills. It's a lot of fun and he's been showing interest in our food so I think he's probably excited about it as well. Broccoli was his first foray.

Speaking of what's in style we saw this art project where you paint a pumpkin with a baby's butt. We just so happened to have a baby butt handy so we went to work.

I think it turned out very well. Ernie was a very good sport.
