The Very Hungry Johnerpillar

I hope that we don't do so much fun stuff with Ernie that he's unable to cope with how dreadfully boring life can be at times. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we've reached it.

We hit the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery and had some food and some wine samples. The food here is way better than it has any business being.

Are you kidding me with this? The food miracle workers here have devised a bao BLT. That's what I'm about.

My mom won a humorously giant teddy bear from Crayola in a drawing when I was a kid. I think about it whenever I see other large ursine cuddly things.

Speaking of cuddly things, here's my baby.

We met up with Zoe and her boyfriend Colton at Agua Verde Cafe in Seattle.

There's a self serve boba place in U District that I've been wanting to try for a while and we finally checked it out.

There's a ton of choices.

I was kind of overwhelmed by the choices. Also I like the boba balls so much that I sort of don't want to tarnish their awesome flavor with a bunch of weird crap. Trying all of the different tea flavors was more fun for me.

They made a mistake and gave me two cups so, honest guy that I am, I drank two boba teas.

Sometimes Ernie decides that he is a little bat boy and arches so that he can look at things upside down. He especially likes lights so if those are around he'll contort himself around for a better view of them.

Halloween Warm Up

Bobae is always a good idea.

Decisions decisions

Lately I've been rocking the matcha latte with boba.

The official place to drink one's Bobae is looking out at Lake Washington and contemplating the universe.

Lydia and I got Flintstones costumes for Halloween this year. I took mine out for a test drive tonight with some friends in Seattle.

I cannot resist a grungy arcade bar.

Add-A-Ball is so weird and dirty that they have these weird half bottles of Miller High Life.

The statue of Lenin in Fremont was looking festive.

The night devolved into a very long walk, sometimes in the wrong direction, to another bar that was guaranteed to be better than Add-A-Ball. Spoiler: it was not. It was an amusing journey though. We passed by Last Call Bar, another weird place, but in a "I don't think I need to return here" kind of way.

Escape From Wonderland

Like we do most days, today we took a walk.

It's funny because Kirkland is crawling with bubble tea joints but there seems to be no end to them continuing to open. I wonder if this is a bubble, sort of like how cupcakes bakeries were hip for a minute then most of them died. I am not complaining, however, because I love me that sweet sweet boba.

The occasional Oktoberfest style lager helps to deal with the sad realization that for this year at least, my Munich Oktoberfesting is behind me. What a time it was.

Our fun social outing for today was to go to an escape room with our friends Sumit and Shubhra. This time the company was Conundroom Escape Rooms in Redmond and it was Alice in Wonderland themed.

"The time has stopped in Wonderland. The tea party is ruined, cakes and cups are out of place, and the Queen wants the clock to be taken apart! Take a part in the crazy adventure in the land of wonder, help it regain the normal flow of time. You will meet all kinds of funny, exciting, colorful, and crazy animals that will help you solve the mystery of the broken heart. You will have an hour to start the time and save your head from being chopped off by the Queen!"

It was fun. One little quirk of this one was that there were little audio clues here and there. It was sometimes hard to hear them which was annoying but I appreciated the attempt. We did pretty well and didn't need too many hints.
