Ernie Gets a Big Boy Bed

Ernie John has been been hard at work growing into a larger baby, and due to the stress associated with that he asked to be pampered a bit in the tub today.

A good reminder of the curious turn that my life has taken is the giant Soulard Oktoberfest plastic beer steins that we now use to give Ernie a bath.

Today was bittersweet because Ernie has officially outgrown his bassinet and this little afternoon nap would be the last time he will ever sleep in it. It's been nice because it's easy to check on him when he's so close to the bed, and it's easy to pick him up because you don't have to lean over too much.

I hope the poor little guy isn't too unhappy with his bed changing.

Ernie's new bed is in the same spot but it sits on the floor, so that his chubby little body doesn't tip it over. I like this look: "why the heck did you put me on the floor? What did I do wrong?"

Bath Bomb Fizzled

I procured a case of bath bombs during my St. Louis Amazon product scam. At our last St. Louis apartment we had a really nice Jacuzzi tub with jets.

The tub at our place in Kirkland is lacking in awesome tubs. There's not really room for me and water in the tub at the same time.

I thought I found a fortune in the center of the fizzy ball. The heck is this thing.

Diet Accomplished

I bet Hank that I could lose 40 pounds in four months. It ended up being a challenge that was well suited to my current situation of zero bars or restaurants or really interacting with other people in person at all. It was much easier to control my diet under these circumstances. I also rode the crap out of the Peloton.

Viry and Lolo gave me a pizza for my birthday like 3 months ago and it has been glumly waiting for me in the fridge ever since. I set it free!

We already had several ice cream toppings on hand from.. coupon sort of maneuvers that I like to do to get random free stuff. Anyway it turned into a nice celebratory ice cream bar.

I need to get fat again ASAP because none of my clothes fit and it's super annoying and I don't want to have to buy a whole new wardrobe. At one point we took a walk in Tower Grove Park and I didn't have a belt on for some reason. I had to walk around the whole time with my thumbs in my belt loops to keep my pants from falling down.

I've been scheming on how to get into a covid vaccine trial to potentially get my shot before everyone else and be the coolest kid in town. A downside that has been on my mind is that if you are in the placebo group that they may not tell you for a while, and then if the vaccine became available you would potentially then not get it because you wouldn't know if you already had it or not. I'm feeling brave though, because getting the coronavirus sounds unpleasant and I'm tired of living like I'm on a space station.

Hillbillies seem determined to pretend that this isn't a problem. They aren't really that good about threats that require a lot of thought.

Better late than never I guess?

Part of the reason that I'm a hero is that instead of going outside and coughing on people I'm staying home and watching 1990s episodes of Supermarket Sweep. It's interesting to see which brands survived and which didn't.

All the time I've saved by going nowhere and doing nothing I have invested in numerous bubble baths.

A Stroll About Town

Roof, roof!

After the mask shortage it became fashionable for handy people to make their own. Lydia's stepmom made us a couple and we modeled them around the city. Mine's got like a little smile so that people know how friendly I am.

People are clearly getting pretty desperate for social interaction.

"In 1891 the Wainwright Building was constructed for St. Louis businessman Ellis Wainwright. It was designed by Louis H. Sullivan, a Chicago architect.

The Wainwright Building is the father of the contemporary skyscraper. Sullivan's design emphasized open, spacious interiors. Sullivan combined a load-bearing steel framework with architectural details taken from earlier load-bearing masonry structures. His large windows flooded the Wainwright Building with natural light. The airy construction allowed by the steel framework was a radical departure from the heavy concrete buildings of the time.

The Wainwright Building became a turning point in architectural history. It is now regarded as the pioneer of contemporary building design."

One Cardinal Way, the apartment building connected to Ballpark Village looks like it is about finished. I was annoyed because they were giving "hard hat tours" of the place while we were in Kenya and now it's too risky... so I may never get to see the inside of the place now!

Lydia demanded that we rewatch my favorite movie ever: The Matrix. She enjoyed that so much that she then insisted that we watch the rest of the trilogy and then the Animatrix too!

My work commute took almost two hours a day, so now that I work from home I have more time for things like leisurely bubble baths. You know, man stuff.
