I Am Bogey Boy

I saw on some advertisement somewhere that Seattle native rapper Macklemore was going to be doing a meet and greet at the Seattle Golf Show. I love Macklemore and his "Thrift Shop" single was pretty much my anthem for a minute. I think I must now officially qualify as a real fan because I hate golf but bought two tickets to the Seattle Golf Show.

Well I wanted some cool clothes for when I became best friends with Macklemore, so we went to a Capitol Hill pop up store selling his golfy themed clothing line: Bogey Boys. It was a pretty cool store, complete with a golf cart and a putting green.

It's a little bit amusing that one of Macklemore's biggest hit songs is about thrifting and not spending a bunch of money on designer clothes, which he is now pimping, but he was operating a thrift shop in the basement of the building as well. I think that must at least balance out his karma in this instance.

With my new digs secured, we hit a bar in town that we'd never been to before. Stella is a cozy little bar situated in the Hotel Sorrento. I believe the reason that we were here was to listen to a jazz band play Disney tunes or something, but that area was full, so we checked this area out a bit.

Our last stop of the night was the dive bar Sam's Tavern. This place seems pretty lively and has a lot of events, so I definitely would like to come back sometime. 

My team at Microsoft is in charge of cutting off access to a lot of our products in the event of an international trade dispute, and we've been very busy pulling the plug on a lot of relationships with Russian entities in the wake of their invasion of Ukraine.

A Milwaukee Bar After Super Tuesday

Biden did pretty terrible in the Democratic primary debates, so I was confused and annoyed when everyone started dropping out of the race and endorsing him.

Elizabeth Warren, who I used to like a lot, thought of herself as so powerfully important that she refused to drop out before Super Tuesday and I think cost Bernie Sanders his chance at the nomination.

And now this old goof is going to be the nominee. Sigh.

This phone booth was fantastic. I want it in my apartment as a sort of post apocalypse art exhibit.

I went to Eagle Park Brewing Company for some refreshment.

I went for some appetizers to keep my beers company. The food was surprisingly fancy. These were the:

"Duck confit perogies

Homemade perogies filled with melt in your mouth duck confit and topped with cherry stout jam, served on a salad of crispy brussel sprouts, potatoes, and arugula, tossed in herb oil." 

I also decided upon the:

"Cheese basket

IPA battered clock shadow cheese curds and seared Brazilian cheese. Served with house pickles and choice of sauce."

The beer was solid so I stocked up to bring back to the Lou. This is the 9.5% ABV Hazelnut Miss Swiss Imperial Milk Stout. Awesomely it's brewed with marshmallows, cocoa. and hazelnut.

A Cheap Night Out

We had a pretty craftily budget priced night head of us.

First I found this deal at Chipotle where you could get buy-one-get-one burritos if you wore a hockey jersey to the restaurant.

And just like that I was a hockey fan. I bought this jersey at Goodwill Outlet for like a quarter some time ago. Might be my best purchase there ever considering how much use I get out of it.

I won tickets via Do314 to Arguments & Grievances - Live Debate Comedy Show that was being held at Brennan's Work & Leisure. We had never been to this bar so that added to our level of interest.

There was a lot of Cuban stuff going on in their decor.

I got to try a Dogfish Head Sea Quench Ale which I had been wanting to try for a while.

The sour mixed with the saltiness brought gose to mind.

The show was mildly interesting. It had a debate-like format but it seemed kind of like open mic night for amateurs, which it very well could have been. It was a hoot for what it was, but I think that we left early when our drinks had run dry.

A Poppin' Mardi Gras Bar

If there's one thing me and my crew cannot resist it's a friggin pop-up bar. Sure they're expensive but they are like a delicate cherry blossom: even more beautiful because they aren't destined to last. (Is bar poet a job?) This time the venue was Molly's in Soulard, and the theme was Mardi Gras. It was appropriately named Carnival.

I went for the "Bourbon Street Smash: rye Bulleit bourbon, brown sugar simple syrup, bitters, muddled luxardo cherries and oranges garnished with candied pecans and a music note." As far as $12 old fashioneds go it was good.

I also ordered a plate of "Cajun fried deviled eggs: breaded and fried eggs topped with deviled yolks."

Lydia ordered a "King Cake Martini: vanilla Stoli, Rumchata, and amaretto with a sprinkle of cinnamon, a green sugar rim and a party crown." I borrowed the party crown to cover up my bald spot.

We then quickly walked to a place where drinks are not $12. The end.

Recess Duty

There's a new bar in town that is nestled in a scenic... warehouse in a part of town that I've never been to before. This is either going to be awesome or an ambush.

The deal with Recess is you pay maybe $10 to get in then you have unlimited time to play their games.

Mmmm Nut Butt. There was some 4 Hands Absence of Light action to be had.

Got some bocce done.

I'd never played airbowling before.

It's pretty much bowling with a football.

These two started a new Instagram so they needed a bunch of cheeseball pictures of themselves.

Fun times. I would come back.
