Messy Man

Ernie doesn't like getting his face wiped off after messy meals, but we have a trick.

If you wet a paper towel and put it in front of him he'll pick it up and rub it all over his own face while sucking on it to get the water out. We're geniuses.

He's been practicing drinking water out of a honey bear container with a straw sticking out of it. With this we can give it a little squeeze then he'll get some water but he eventually learns how to suck on the straw by himself.

Retro Chewing

My mom has been hoarding my childhood toys. I always thought that was excessive but it has been fun to see Ern play with them.

This is a circa 1980s chew toy. I'm sure it contains all kinds of now banned nutrients.

I've been enjoying watching Ernie Wernie's hair get long and shaggy but soon he's going to daycare and won't have us to brush his hair out of his eyes all the time. Something may need to be done...

Ern's Shirt is From the Lou and He's Proud

Ernie was looking especially handsome today in his lil STL outfit. I'm not going to lie, I took a lot of pictures.

That tongue of his is making itself known. Sometimes I wonder if he's tasting the air like a reptile or what exactly is happening with it.

Our friends Shubra and Sumit made us some fun Indian desserts and even dropped them off at our apartment. They were amazing.

Lydia's maternity leave is about finished and Ernie is about to start going to big boy school, so I thought I should do a little interview at this life landmark. I'd like to do more of these but I feel like there's an inverse relationship between interesting stuff happening in our lives and the time and mental space to sit down, realize that stuff is happening, and ask ourselves how we feel about it.

Yer a Wizard Ernie

Things were about to get real magical.

Big Ern was pumped.

Today's excursion was to a traveling exhibit called Harry Potter Magic at Play. It was set up at the froufrou mall The Shops at The Bravern which was kind of funny. That's where like the Louis Vuitton store is for example, so we don't usually have a legitimate reason to be here.

I had to have a conversation with Ernie. He recently went to Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo and I knew this wouldn't be as cool so we needed to do some expectations management.

This was more kid oriented which was ok because I now am the proud owner of a kid.

Ernie checking out Harry's bedroom under the stairs.

I'm getting an unexpected amount of wear out of my Hogwarts uniform.

Slytherin!

Wingardium Leviosa!

We brewed some potions.

There was a Quidditch side quest.

There was a new take on butterbeer. I think this is the third official iteration I've tried.

We had initially booked with a couple of couples and their babies from our PEPS Newborn program friends. One pulled out last minute so we invited our Potterhead friends Gabby and Derek.

This was the first time we hung out with Caitlin and her dude outside of baby class.
