Today Ern and I suited up in our Cardinals gear and went to a Mariners game.
Now, were the Mariners playing the Cardinals? No. They were playing the Texas Rangers. But we figured Ern grows so fast that he only gets to wear each outfit a few times so we had to take this opportunity.
At T-Mobile Park I spotted a new food option. Moto Pizza is the new rage in Seattle so I was excited to try it. It's deep dish Detroitish sort of style and has a lot of Filipino ingredients.
I was kind of disappointed but I'm not sure if that's Moto's fault or the ballpark. I found it to be really kind of wet and mushy. Maybe they cooked it then let it sit around in the box too long. Oh well.
We got to meet Mariner Moose in his lair.
We also had a whole lot of fun practicing walking up all the ballpark's steps.
After the game I snuck away to hang out with my French baker friend Renaud and a bunch of his Frenchy friends.
At some point we ended up at his new industrial bakery. It was a good thing I was there because I am a freelance baked goods taste tester.
These mad lads decided the world needed chocolate chip cookies smashed on top of croissants.
This is my favorite thing they make, I think. "A canelé is a small French pastry from Bordeaux, known for its dark, caramelized crust and soft, custardy interior flavored with rum and vanilla, traditionally baked in fluted copper molds. The name comes from the French word for "fluted," and the pastry's signature texture comes from a batter of eggs, milk, flour, butter, and sugar, baked at high heat."
I wish all of my nights out ended at bakeries.
