Halloween Everywhere

Ernie's school had a Halloween event so we rolled up for a few treats.

Ern and his teacher were twinning today.

A big hit were these little colored lights that fit on your finger.

Ern was playing with his new little light toy before nap time.

We attended Tract-or-Treat at Infinity Farm in Issaquah, Washington.

"Trick or Treat event featuring eastside vendors, food trucks, and farm animals."

Most memorably it was featuring a big hungry cow that we could feed.

There was a chicken hanging out in the bathroom.

We had dinner at Macky’s Dim Sum in Issaquah.

I went to a Halloween party later at my friend Roger's house.

I've been playing Disco Elysium. It's a masterpiece. It's so funky and unique and has amazingly weird and humorous writing. I can't imagine this publisher or anyone else will be able to make a game quite like this one ever again.

Tech Support

So I started a small contract job and they mailed me a company laptop. I could NOT get it working. Plugged it in, tried to restart it, hold down the power button, checked the battery... etc. I recall my manager having some sort of hardware problem as well so I figured they were just sending us their old junk stuff to work with. They were in the process of sending me a replacement so when Ernie wanted to play with the dead one, I figured no problem. I'll be damned if my little tech support technician didn't just pound on the keys and slobber everywhere until the thing started working again! It's funny in this sort of scenario you're glad it's working but you're also sort of worried that you're going to get accused of lying about a broken computer to waste time or something. Good work Ernie!

Greasy diner food is something that I've been missing from my Washington living experience. Lil' Jon Restaurant in Bellevue really hit the spot.

We visited Lake Sammamish State Park for a change.

We ate snacks on our balcony with no pants on.

When at first you don't succeed, vigorously pound the keyboard with wet hands.

There was a celebratory cider. Hurrah!

Lupidoptera the Flavor Opera

I'm way behind on writing this blog and one solution would be to skip some of the more normal days and focus on the big trips and more notable events. I think that's hard for me to do because Ernie is growing up so fast that I don't want to skip remembering the little things. Anyway here goes.

I believe the story here was the we had a reservation at Paisley's Tea Room in Issaquah but they were so rude and weird that we walked out and ended up at the nearby Well and Table. I don't think I even ordered this Lupidoptera IPA but when the server offered to take it back I decided to give this orphan a good home. Mainly because it was friggin blue! I guess they use "butterfly pea flowers which are naturally blue in color, but change to purple when introduced to an acidic environment such as beer". Pretty magical. Even the name "Lupidoptera" is right up my nerd alley, being a mashup of Mosaic Lupomax hops and Lepidoptera, the order of winged insects which include butterflies and moths.
