St. Louis: Old Stuff, Foosball, Mini Golf

We visited the good ol Missouri History Museum.

There was a great exhibit on St. Louis Music.

I’m “my favorite rapper is in the history museum” years old.

The girls were so jelly on the fun times that I had last night at the Armory that they demanded I take them tonight. It's sad when the Jelly School is full and doesn't have any room for new jelly girls.

Seed when they should have sawed.

No one can withstand the whirly fury of my little foosball dude.

They had giant pizza paddle ping pong with a giant ball.

One thing on the very short list of things that St. Louis has that Seattle does not is a local franchise of Puttshack. It's kind of a cool twist between mini golf and Top Golf, where the computer keeps track of your strokes and offers some silly ways to get more points as well.

Sure, I'm great at mini golf in North America. But I'm even better at mini golf in Australia, due to the upside down gravity situation that they have going on down there.

Saved the Worst Muny Show For Last

At this late date we're just packing, cleaning, and trying to squeeze the last drops out of St. Louis,

I'm looking forward to some of the pleasures of living in a blue state.

We went to the Muny in beautiful Forest Park.

Smokey Joe's Cafe may be the worst show ever devised. There's literally no story and no spoken words, it's just a smattering of unrelated songs smashed together. I'm not quite sure why this show even exists. We left at intermission.

Ted Drewes is a better show than Smokey Joe's and it's a frozen custard store.

Zoo Babies

Took my parents to the Saint Louis Zoo.

I thought I should at least be festive for the end of the world.

A Late Summer Night’s Stroll

We try to attend the Shakespeare in the Park performance in Forest Park every year (last year), so when covid ruined that I was excited when those geniuses came up with a socially distanced outdoor walking tour version instead.

"Shakespeare in the Park like never before. An 80-minute jaunt full of poetry, music and art. Loosely inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, “A Late Summer Night’s Stroll” puts you at the center of the story: four lovers’ escape to an enchanted wood and the magical night of transformation that follows. A socially-distant self-guided tour of iconic spots and hidden gems, featuring custom installations, open-air performances and charming vignettes."

Doug and Linda were in our gang.

I had assumed beforehand that it was just going to be the same actors but spread out in small groups. This was fun because I didn't even know what type of art to expect: sometimes it was music, sometimes dance, acting, but always fun and usually somehow related to the story. There were times when I definitely had to refer to the program to understand what the heck was going on but it was entertaining nonetheless.

The Saint Louis Art Museum was looking fine af.
