Space Boy

Big Ern got a fun new playset thing today.

He deserves multiple playsets I think we can all agree.

It's pretty cool. It's spaceship themed and has a little tunnel, ball pit, and a tent type structure to hang out in.

I put a few hundred dollars into renovating my dad's 1970 Schwinn. It's got an issue though where if you put too much power into pedaling the wheel slides out of the frame. Which is pretty annoying in the flat midwest but in the Seattle area is a death sentence. So I haven't been riding it but I also can't bring myself to get rid of it. Anyway when Ernie interacts with it I feel momentarily less stupid for keeping it around.

Lucky Ern Goes to Lucky Envelope

Lucky Envelope is quite possibly my favorite brewery in Seattle because it's one of the few places that isn't just a sad parade of IPAs. They have all kinds of fun flavors and even some with Asian influence, for example they often have beers with different teas in them. It's the best.

In the words of Cardi B when I see multiple beers I want to try: "Hit the store, I can get 'em both, I don't wanna choose."

Ernest Goes to the Park

Ern went to Volunteer Park with his aunt and grandma and just, just lived it up. Just had the time of his life while his creator was... I'm sure doing something very important at home.

Ern had some really good open mouth to share back at home.

We caught sunset on Lake Washington and it was looking real nice.

Dinner at SURRELL

Aunt Zozo made Ern a nice sweater with an airplane on it. His birthday party is going to be travel themed.

Grams Linda is still in town so we took the opportunity to escape the house and go to a fancy restaurant.

"SURRELL by Chef Aaron Tekulve is a restaurant focused on some of the best hospitality you will find showcasing seasonal modern Pacific Northwest cuisine and Washington wine. Our weekly menus highlight the variety of Washington's terroir, from the bounty of Puget Sound and fertile farmland of the Cascades to eastern orchards and vineyards. We boast an exclusively-Washington wine list and pairing that highlights the masters and innovators of the local wine industry. Through Aaron’s Modern Pacific Northwest cuisine we showcase a 11-12 course tasting menu, a 5 course pre fixe menu and a wine bar.  Our dining areas reflect our warm, comfortable approach to service and hospitality. Seating is available inside our hundred-year-old new century Victorian home, at our six-seat chef’s counter, and on our outdoor garden patio (covered and heated)."

The meal started with a poem and a flower arrangement made by the chef's mom.

Ain't no party like a Schaeffer party cuz a Schaeffer party don't stop.

We got a table right next to the kitchen which was fun because we could watch all the crazy precision of crafting the plates. We got to have nice little conversations with the staff between courses as well. The chef explained the dishes to us personally which was a nice touch.

truffed up

One of the desserts was a little cotton candy on a stick situation.

There was a welcome drink which was nice then a goodbye drink which is unheard of. I think we got to choose either a little coffee or a little tea.

We also got a little box to take home with literature about the meal and the restaurant along with a baked good.

Pretty nice joint.
