We recently figured out that if there's an event that we want to go to, but don't want to pay for, that we should just volunteer at it. So... we volunteered at this year's St. Louis Brewers Heritage Festival in Forest Park. There was beer. And it was free.
Our volunteering quickly got a bit iffy when the weather got a little threatening.
It sprinkled on and off but as everyone here had already paid for unlimited beer samples, they weren't easily deterred.
The good guys had a couple of tents. One was for the Research Pilot Brewery, or RPB, which is Anheuser-Busch's Willy Wonka-esque experimental laboratory.
There was also an A-B homebrewer's group.
I didn't like this beer but I thought their artwork was fun.
Another perk of volunteering is the t-shirts. Usually they are atrocious but I was pretty pumped about them this time.
For those who aren't cool the Apotheosis of St. Louis is the statue situated in front of the Saint Louis Art Museum. It's a statue of King Louis IX of France, namesake of the city. Before the Arch was built this was the city's symbol as well.
St. Louis' other professional baseball team, which moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where it became the Baltimore Orioles, once used St. Louis as part of its logo.
Anyway the shirts were cool.
When the sky opened up we ran to the car and went home with squishy shoes. The end.
