Survived for Another Cinco de Mayo

Today we Cinco De Mayoed at our friends Viry and Lolo's house.

This dumb lady better be advertising suicides. #LoftLyfe

I don't like to brag but Baltic porters remind me of our road trip around the Baltic sea.

I brought the hats. When one person in a relationship is French and the other is Mexican, Cinco De Mayo is even more festive.

Isolated Cinco De Mayo

After coronavirus killed St. Patrick's Day, we had made preparations to at least celebrate Cinco De Mayo at home. We did mourn the loss of the annual parade on Cherokee Street, however.

I broke out a bottle of tequila that we hand blended in Tequila, Jalisco on our trip.

I popped on my staff shirt from working the parade last year.

There were other tequilas in attendance.

We did a video call with our Mexican friend Viry and her husband Lolo, and played some games. Lolo is French and of course the holiday is about the Mexican victory over the French, so there was some gentle ribbing about that.

May our next Cinco De Mayo be a happier one.

Cherokee Cinco De Mayo

Some friends of mine are in charge of the Cherokee cinco de mayo parade. I volunteered to man the parade route barricades. It mixed my two favorite things: parades and unchecked power.

Cinco de Mayo on Cherokee

Whatever you do if you live in St. Louis and it's Cinco de Mayo, do not go to the Mexican neighborhood. Turns out a lot of other people will be there. The cinco parade in the Cherokee hood was really hot and really crowded.

The citizens of Cherokee are a bunch of lovable weirdos and their parade showed it.

Yesterday's short period of volunteering earned us tickets to return to St. Louis Microfest in Forest Park, this time as patrons.

There were enough Anheuser-Busch craft companies on hand giving away swag that I had plenty of stickers to pimp out my laptop.
