Some Family Time Back In Springfield

I did the 6.5 hour drive from Neosho to Springfield, Illinois and stayed for a long weekend. Unfortunately the occasion was a funeral but it was still a nice time to see some family and catch up. I guess that is sort of the whole point of funerals.

I got to spend some quality time with my mom. We walked around downtown and had one of our favorites: The Feed Store. We each had some of their excellent cream of broccoli soup which can only be correctly eaten with an obscene amount of saltine crackers. We visited the Lincoln Home National Historic Site visitor center for the heck of it. They have a video that tells the story of Lincoln's time in Springfield, and I know some of the extras. That was a hoot.
